Two Ph.D. student research assistant positions are immediately available at the Center for Materials, Manufacturing and Quality Research at Wayne State University, the Depart of Industrial System Engineering and the Department of Mechanical Engineering, for conducting 3-year research funded by US National Science Foundation. The requirements for the position are described below.

(1) Materials and Mechanics: the priority of selection will be given to the student who has BS and MS degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (or related fields), and has background/experience in advanced thermo-mechanical processing/material testing, microstructure/microdamage examination, and micromechanics analysis/modeling. (2) Applied statistics and mathematical modeling, data mining: Students with background in applied mathematics, statistics, and data mining are encouraged to apply.
